Do I need a degree in Art to become an Art teacher?
Hi everyone, I've asked questions on here and found people to be so helpful. I'm 32 and have just completed an MA in Creative Arts Therapy(main focus was Drama, but the medium is very broad..used a lot of art activities such as puppetry, pottery, and drawing/imaging and I've also taken workshops in Art therapy) in the Uk. I've a liberal Arts degree in English, Sociology and Politics. I also have a higher diploma in Drama Education and Tefl. I've been in Education for five years, working as a one to one tutor with autistic children, and have also taught Drama and English as a foreign language. My goal is to teach a subject I'm passionate about, which has always been art but I got sidetracked. My query is can I do an MA in Art education or would I need an undergrad in Art or an Art related degree? I intend to return and study in the States in order to do so. I'm sorry that I rambled around the question, and appreciate any advice..
I was wonderig the same thing....
I dont thik you have to have a degree in art,I think your degree would be i teaching...but you would take some art classes the same as if you wanted to be a math teacher, your teaching program would include math classes for that...
of course I'm just assuming it would be the same...
and we all know what assume does...
makes an-ass-out of u- and-me
