India Hotels & Resorts
Goa, with its odd remix of modern tack and medieval morality, is a beautiful tiny region just 65 km wide and 105 km long (3701 sq km). It is the smallest and the most beautiful state located at the West coast of known as Konkan. It is basically divided into two districts: North Goa and South Goa. Panaji is the capital along with the headquarters of the north Goa district and Margao of the south district. Margao still exhibits the influence of Portuguese culture along with Catholic heritage. Geographically, it is bounded by the state of Maharashtra to the north, Karnataka to the east and south and the Arabian Sea forms its western coast.
It's a place where the palm trees bear a strange fruit, fliers for crystal therapy, Ayurvedic healing and rave parties and every road seems to lead to an organic restaurant or massage clinic. The Green jungles, beautiful hills, exotic beaches, dramatic cliffs make this place really special.
Tourist Attraction in Goa:
Beaches at Goa:
105 Km long Konkan Belt at western coast has endorsed Goa with some best beaches in the world. Based on the location, Beaches are divided into two groups: some lies in North Goa and others are in South. Here are some highlights:
Vagator and Chapora
Situated in Bardez Taluka, about 22 Km from the Capital Panaji. It is a crescent shaped beach and has beautiful shining white sand and sparking black lava rocks. Portuguese fort of Chapora nearby 500-year-old is also very attractive.
Anjuna
Anjuna is the most famous and spectacular of Goa’s beaches, located between the sea and a hill having some sparking black rocks jutting into the sea. Night-long spice up parties with rhythmic music and the most famous and giant Wednesday flea market Started decades ago by Anjuna's hippie community where you can pick up various hand made crafts, pottery etc. are something that you will memorize forever.
Calangute and Baga
Both are recognized as the Queens of beaches in Goa. The nearby saltpans and coconut groves along with the Golden sand makes it the most exotic place. Calangute provides you all the modern facilities like spas, massage parlors, shopping centers and internet cafés. Baga is Famous for its scenic beauty including hills with retreat house and the Baga River that flows alongside and further joins the sea.
Miramar
Earlier known as Gasper Dias Beach, lying adjacent to Mandovi River that empties out into the sea. All the luxury hotels and homes along with Fort Aguada that looks gorgeous from the beach, makes this place heaven. Famous Demphe College of Arts and Science and memorial of Dayanand Bandodkar Goa’s first chief minister is also situated here.
Old Goa
Old Goa is a famous historic town away from the beautiful beaches. Actually in the time of Portuguese it was the capital of Goa but in 1943 the city was abandoned and the capital moved to Panaji. Here there are some beautiful collections of old churches and cathedrals. The open space between these historic buildings is really amazing that you won’t find in other Indian cities. Basilica of Bom Jesus which houses the remains of St. Francis Xavier are some highlights of Old Goa.

Kerala on the South West Coast of India had trade relations with Rome and Greece, how far back in history?
According to Gibbon, "Decline and fall of the Roman Empire", Alaric the Goth asked for 3000 pounds of Kerala pepper as ransom to free the Fathers of Rome. Earlier Pliny complains about the large quantity of Roman coins flowing out of Rome to India in exchange for Pepper and Pearls of Kerala. Gold and Silver coins of Augustus Caesar, Tiberius, Hadrian, Nero are discovered in large quantities in Kerala even today, esp. near places like Parur and Palayur. Roman amphore and pottery have been found in Kerala and Pondicherry. There are some references perhaps in the Bible about Solomon having contacts with Kerala. Are there more concrete evidences for Roman and Greek contacts with Kerala?
It is very clear that Kerala had been a very important place of attraction for the tourists from time immemorial. Literacy works of those times extoll the beauty of the land. Kerala had trade relations with Egypt, Babylon, Phoenicia, Greece and Rome even before the Aryan incursion, which was between 2000 and 1600 B. C. However, popular legend says that the land stretching from Goa to Gokarnam was reclaimed by the mythical hero, Sage Parasurama and that was how Kerala came into being. But references from Hebrew texts give the evidence that Kerala had trade contacts with Phoenicia and Egypt, long before the Aryan incursion.
Kerala's recorded history goes back to the third century B.C., and throughout the time since this special place in India has been a crossroad of trade and religious movements. Jesus Christ's disciple St. Thomas established his church at Muziris around 52 A.D., there was trade with Rome and Byzantium and Greece, and a Jewish colony was established in Cochin (Kochi) where it remains to this day centered around the beautifully preserved and still active Pardesi synagogue.
