How To Sell Your Stuff
Spring is on its way and you might be feeling the urge to do some spring cleaning. Maybe you're moving to a new place, or need to make room for a new baby. Perhaps you've lost interest in an old hobby, or just want to get rid of a few old things. Instead of tossing your extra items in the garbage, try selling them instead. Reusing unwanted items is another way to help the environment and keep green, but also helps put some green in your pocket.
Selling items online is a good way to get your unwanted valuables seen by a large audience. eBay is one way to advertise - you'll list your item or items and decide if you wish them to be auctioned, or simply sold at a price you deem fair. Most of the time, they buyer will pay for shipping, so the final selling price is yours to keep.
Setting up an online account with PayPal is a fast way to receive payment for your items - it acts as an online bank account, allowing you to pay for purchases online using available funds, or to receive payment for goods and services.
This sidesteps any problems you may have with bounced checks or poorly concealed cash - the money is yours once the buyer pays you, and it's easy to keep track of what you are owed and where to send your items when payment has cleared.
Another place online that offers more immediate gratification is Amazon Marketplace - a nice way to sell just about anything at a fair price without being concerned about underselling. Amazon will also transfer your funds securely into your personal bank account once your items have sold.
Etsy is a site that specializes in items that are handmade or vintage. It's not an auction site, and if you are knee-deep in grandma's quilts or old pottery, this might be the place to offer them for grabs.
If you are not comfortable selling your items online, you might simply hold a garage sale. It will take you a day or so to get ready, but then you will often sell many items quickly. What is left over you can have the local charity come and get.
Hopefully, you've gotten a few ideas on how to get rid of some still valuable possessions and make some spare change in the process. It will take some time and a bit of hard work, but soon you will have the room you need in your home and some extra cash to help decorate it!

Quilt! Help!?
About a year ago, I was leafing through a Pottery Barn Magazine. I saw a beautiful quilt, but, since I had just remodeled my bedroom, I dismissed it as a beautiful, but unnecessary item. Well, I am redesigning my bedroom again, and would like to use that quilt. The problem is, it is discontinued, and I cannot remember it's name. Its an island themed quilt, (not Pottery Barn kids) its like vintage hawaii themed, with palm trees, hawaii flowers. its colors include reds, pea greens, aquamarines, camel/tans, and vanilla like colors. It's stitched with squares, but inside the sqaures are stitched flap-like things. Please!!! Somebody help....if anyone knows at least the name of the quilt that would be great!
You mean the item is discontinued? Because Pottery Barn Magazine seems to still be around..
I've perused their site and the FAQ says;
Most products available from potterybarn.com and the Pottery Barn catalog are available to add to your registry online; however, some seasonal items may not appear in the registry assortment. For assistance with a catalog or potterybarn.com item that you are not finding in the registry, please call 1.888.779.5176 7 days a week, 4:00 am to 9:00 pm (PST).
I'm afraid I can't be of any further assistance, what with not living in America, nor having ever seen a Pottery Barn Magazine before today. Best of luck, though.
