Painting a glass vase?

I want to paint over a glass vase. I had some latex based paint left over, so I painted the vase with it about a week ago. I put tape over it today to decorate, but as soon as I removed the tape, the latex based paint came off it too. So the original color of the vase is back. My question is..how do I paint over a glass vase and make sure the color stays on when I paint it with acrylic paint on it?

Don't use tape once you've painted the vase, the solvents in the tape will affect the paint and lift it off. I use a spray adhesive on clear acetate and very lightly apply it to make a paint mask. I also use a vinyl paint mask and even it is sometimes too sticky and will affect paint underneath it so I use a little baby powder sprinkled on the adhesive side to make it less tacky. There is also a product called adhereto made by one of the auto paint manf. that I used to use when I was painting glass with lacquer. I agree with suggestion to rough up the surface best way would be to sandblast the area you want to paint. It would sure be a shame to create a beautiful vase and then have the paint peal off.
