How can I make my own top hat?

I've searched everywhere on the web, and I can't seem to find a good pattern/DIY instructions on making a top hat- The real kind, not the children/party kind. Does anyone here know how to do it?

Materials Needed:

* Paper Plate
* Glue
* Construction Paper

Instructions:
Paint the paper plate black. Once the paint is dry, cut out the center of the paper plate. Leave the outside rim about 2 inches thick.

Cut a piece of black construction paper to approximately 8-inches by 8 inches. Tape this into the circle you cut out of the paper plate so as much as possible sticks out through the top of the plate. Voila - instant top hat!
