Healthy Natural Weight Loss
Death In A Capsule
Wham! The headlines hit hard across the evening news. Ephedra Tied To Pitcher's Death. I couldn't believe it. Orioles Pitcher, Steve Bechler, a 23-year-old athlete in his prime, was cut down by a drug found in many diet pills at the time. I quickly went to the medicine cabinet and checked the ingredients in my collection. I was surprised to find many of the things I was taking to lose weight contained ephedra. I tossed them out.
Thermogenic Drugs
Drugs like ephedra are thermogenic drugs, that is they increase the body's temperature using fat for the fuel to do it. This increases the metabolism and the combination helps the body burn fat. I used combinations of these drugs along with appetite suppressants to achieve dramatic weight loss until I started figuring out exactly what they were doing to me.
Wake Up Call
Steve Bechler's death was a wake up call and I abandoned ephedra after that, but I still used natural sources of caffeine and other stimulants to help with weight loss. Then one day I was cruising uphill stoked on a diet pill when BAM! I thought some one had slapped me in the chest. I slowed up and BAM! There it went again, I suddenly felt weak and sweaty. I immediately went home and rested. From that day forward I only use healthy natural weight loss methods.

Step2: Healthy Natural Exercises
Yes, it is true that there are extreme exercises that are not natural and healthy. If you have seen pictures of a tri-athlete they look like walking skeletons because they push themselves so hard. They cannibalize there own muscle tissues to make up for the energy deficits in their bodies. For most of us, a good rule of thumb is to take the number 220 subtract your age from that and then do exercises that will elevate your heart rate to that number and keep it there for 30 minutes. Do this 3 times a week at a minimum. For example, if I am 45-years-old, I would calculate 220-45= 175 bpm. I would then find an exercise that I liked and use it to get my heart rate up to 175 bpm. and keep it there for 30 minutes. I would do this 3 times a week or more.
Step 3: Natural Healthy Fluids
Drink 8 glasses of water a day. If you want to go thermogenic make them 16 oz. Glasses of ice water. Do not drink things that contain sugar, or corn syrup. If you follow these steps you will achieve a healthy natural weight loss. There are some really nice on-line programs that can help you do this if you need more guidance and structure. How long does sugar remain in the body and what are the effects of too much sugar?
I went to IHOP about an hour and a half ago for pancakes and eggs. Unfortunately, IHOP pancakes are like sponges and (being off in my own little world) I didn't realize how much syrup I used until the end - at which point I was embarrassed to see 1/2 the pitcher gone (that's about 1/2 cup). I have since done the calculations and that's about 8 Tablespoons @ 58 grams each (or 464 grams of sugar). Provided I don't go into cardiac arrest from stupidity, how long does sugar remain in the body and how long will I feel the effects of sugar overload before I crash and burn? How can I counter the effects in the meantime?
My usual response to a heavy warm breakfast is getting really tired, especially with the eggs.
Sugar is another story.
Increased sugar in your system can raise your alertness and makes your brain work. However too much sugar can make younger folks jittery, hyper and aggressive.
The increase of sugar in your system will increase your insulin production to bring the sugar into your system, more insulin will give you afterwards increased appetite for more sugary foods. I have heard of the term sugar addiction, as this is fueling a cycle of increased sugar intake.
After the sugar spike comes usually a crash a couple of hours later, when you suddenly might feel tired, moody or even depressed and have the urge to eat more.
Actually the morning coffee people depend on so much create a similar situation. It increases the sugar supply to the brain, hence the improved alertness. But also increases the hunger for sweets, cakes and simple carbs.
Try not to eat more sugar or simple carbs once the heavy intake is digested, even if you get a real big craving. Eat a well balanced meal instead, no fast food, drink water. Try limit the intake of such heavy breakfast only on days when you don't have to function f.e. weekends.
