Stoke-On-Trent: Pottery And A Lot More Besides
Visiting Stoke-on-Trent in the county of Staffordshire is a visit to six individual towns. These towns form the city while Hanley is the centre. This pretty location is also known simply as The Potteries.
The nickname is no surprise, as potteries are precisely what the city is known for. You could not want a better place to visit if you are interested in the subject. You can visit a museum of ceramics, as well as take factory tours and browse in factory shops. Among the potteries that find their home here are Wedgwood and Royal Doulton, names known around the world. Also present are Emma Bridgewater, Aynsley, Portmeiron and Moorcroft.
If pottery is not your thing, you will still find plenty to do here. There is the nearby Trentham Estate, for example, which has 800 acres of land with gardens for you to stroll amongst. Close to that is the Monkey Forest which features 140 Barbary Macaques in an enclosure of 60 acres that you can walk through.
One of the most well known theme parks in the U. K. Is also nearby. The Alton Towers is located just east of Stoke-on-Trent. If you are visiting with children, you will want to go to Waterworld, an indoor complex for swimming. Each town has at least one park as well. If you are a fan of Victorian parks, one of the largest registered in the U. K., Burslem, is here. There are also several nature reserves including a national one, Park Hall Country Park.
When you are ready to take time out from the attractions, there is plenty of shopping to be had at the Potteries Shopping Centre or high street brand shops. There are plenty of live performances to be seen in the evening at the local theatres and concert hall. Or, if you prefer the music scene, there are a variety of nightclubs. You can even go see some art-house films. Naturally, there are also many restaurants and pubs to frequent.
You will have an easy time reaching the city as it lies less than an hour drive from Liverpool, Nottingham, Manchester and Birmingham. Once here, there is a wide range of accommodations. You can find bed and breakfasts, guesthouses or hotels, as you prefer.
For a day or two or even longer, Stoke-on-Trent is a lovely place to spend some time. It is a must visit location for pottery lovers in particular. You can have a nice getaway and find some nice presents for the loved ones in your life.

How do you identify authentic Staffordshire dogs?
To clarify, Stafforshire mantel dogs, English pottery dogs.
Experience - years of it - sorry but there is no set answer. Some hints that they are fake is crazing that is too uniform, no wear to the paint, marks on the base that read "Made in England".
