Organizing your Kitchen: Practical Ideas in Keeping your Kitchen in Order
The kitchen is one of the busiest rooms in your whole house. Not only is this the place where the food is prepared every meal but it also serves other purposes such as a receiving area for guests and a homework area for the kids. With this fact alone, it is greatly important that this space is kept always under control and organized. This task may seem impossible especially if you spend almost all of your time in this part of the house. But fortunately, there are many approaches and methods you can do to solve this problem. Here are some of them:
• One of the simplest tasks you can do to organize your kitchen and refrigerator is to basically store accompanying kitchen utensils and items together. For example, store your dishes near your dishwasher; put your pots and pans near the stove and place paper towel holders and towels near each other. This makes sense as it will save you lots of time and effort rather than searching for them one by one every time you need them.
• Packing leftovers can be a bothersome job most especially if you always walk back and forth between the sink and refrigerator to clean the dishes. To save energy, you should place wraps such as aluminum foil in between these two areas.
• Hanging things in the kitchen is a wonderful way of organizing kitchen utensils and at the same time maximizes your storage space. Pots and pans should be placed over the stove. You can also make use of hooks and hanging baskets to add that much needed space above. Aside from these wall spaces, you can also place hanging racks at the back of your kitchen door for items such as aprons and pot holders.
• Kitchen item such as cutting boards, knives and other similar utensils are most often used in preparing food. They are best placed in a section of your kitchen where there is a clear counter top you can work in and at the same time is near the sink. This accessible space can work best for you because you can drop the used utensils readily into the sink as soon as you are done with them.
• There may be cases in which you need to store more than one kind of utensil or tool in one particular drawer or space. To work this effectively for you, you can make use of drawer divider that can create sections for each type of utensil. This will keep you from spending too much time in searching through a whole lot of tools every time it is needed.
• Cooking utensils such as spatulas, stirring spoons and other similar utensils will need to be positioned near the stove. It will create a lot of hassle if these items are placed in drawers and hard to reach areas. As you will most likely use these every time you cook, why not place them in a porcelain jar near the counter top beside your paper towel holders.
The kitchen is a flexible area of your home which can serve many purposes. As this space can both serve as a food preparation and entertainment area, it always needs to be presentable and organized. Therefore, to effectively keep it controlled and always in tiptop shape, you need to utilize these organizing tips which can make your kitchen life a whole lot easier.

What of your child's did you save?
My husband says I save too much of my son's. Here is what is in the box:
ultrasounds
baby blanket (The one he and I were both brought home in)
crib card and hospital bracelets
hospital hat and outfit we brought him home in
first chirstmas and thanksgiving outfits
birth announcement
newborn diaper(not used)
baby shoes (cast in silver plate) and socks
booties and bib that i made for him
bible from christening and christening suit (also heirlooms)
birthday cards, invite, and party hat from 1st birthday
cake toppers from baby shower and first birthday
first tooth and curl holders
silver spoon, cup, porriger and rattle
letters I wrote him
photo albums with a photo from each month
It's all in a nice box with trays and dividers my dad made for him, so it's not everywhere. Is it really too much? What did you save?
The spoon, cup, and rattle are real silver, and heirlooms. They aren't just plastic.
Sounds fine to me. I have a baby book and birthday book for each of my sons. They have pockets in them to save stuff. I kept the ultrasound photos, crib cards, hospital bracelets, hospital hats, all the cards they've ever gotten, newborn diaper, number candles from their cakes, a lock of hair from their first haircuts, letters, pictures, and each of them have a hand knitted baby blanket that my friend made for them. I'm hoping to pass them the baby blankets for when they have their own children. I keep ticket stubs from special events, I keep postcards, I keep little trinkets that we pick up. If it fits in the baby book pocket, then I probably keep it.
