Bought two little rare parakeet's now which one is the female or male?
I just bought two rare parakeets just yesturday and they are so cute and little:) all I wanted to know what are there gender. One is all white with a blue spot tail which is longer then the other bird and the other light yellow with a mix of Light Green which has a shorter tail.
There is no such thing as rare parakeets. Its a label petshops put on them to sell them as something special or for a better price. They also call them rare if they cannot figure out the type that they are.
The feather colours that they are has nothing to do with sexing them.
Yours sound like recessive pied budgies, lightly marked recessive pied budgies at that. Inb these cases if recessive pieds the males will never have a blue cere. The thing people say about blue ceres on males never applies to some budgie types.....especially recessive pieds.
However, if either of your budgies have a lot of white on its cere, then consider that one female. Thats the way it works. Later on a female will develop a brownish cere but that would be past the age of 5-6 months.
