Pottery Glazed

How do I glaze this piece of pottery without it sticking to the kiln?
I'm planning how I would glaze a piece I have not made yet, simply, a round lid shape with walls. Example: http://www.justbynature.com/images/containers/LidAntGold2.jpg
I don't want to leave the rim (pointing down) unglazed - is there any way to go about firing this so that this edge can be glazed?
Well, I'm not entirely sure of what you're asking, but it you just wax the very bottom of the edge, you can glaze the entire piece with a non runny glaze. Just as long as you leave that edge, the lip of the lid, the part that will be touching the kiln (preferably some stilts) than it should be fine. Make sure you know your glazes, though.
If you're talking about glazing the rim of the lid, think of it this way: some part of the pot needs to not have glaze on it so that it can touch the kiln and not fuse to it.
