How do I get hairspray residue off an antique platter?
I have a ceramic platter that my great grandmother hand-painted. It's probably about a 100 years old and was properly fired and glazed as well after it was painted.
I noticed recently that it seemed to have all of this sticky residue on it. and I think it might be hairspray that accidently has been building up. I can't put it in the dishwasher. And I tried scrubbing it off gently with a bit of dishsoap and wash cloth, but that didn't seem to work. Any suggestions for this valuable antique of mine?
If it's hairspray, have you tried shampoo?
Just remember that if it's glazed, nothing will harm the paint.
