Glass Water Pitchers
Some habits die-hard. This is true especially with old traditions. When a certain concept passes the test of time, it gets handed down through generations. One such concept is the glass pitcher. It is a common sight at all dinner arrangements, both formal and informal. Stainless steel might have been replaced by china, bright colors might have been replaced by lighter hues but glass water pitchers are ever present at the dinner table.
Glass water pitchers are appropriate both from an aesthetic as well as from a practical point of view. The intense craftsmanship used while designing these pitchers catches the eye. The beauty of it makes it suitable as both a decoration item as well as something to hold fresh water in. It also looks quite elegant and thus adds richness to the table settings. On the practical side, it is easier to carry than stainless steel pitchers and the contents are clearly visible. Given the myriad diseases that pass through water, people are highly skeptical while accepting drinking water that is not labeled as 'mineral water'. In such circumstances, providing water in a transparent pitcher is highly effective.
People can see the purity of the water with their own eyes before they decide to drink it. The only disadvantage with the glass water pitcher is that it is easily breakable like any other glass item. Therefore, careful handling is a prerequisite while one decides to purchase a glass pitcher. One should also prevent children from handling the pitcher.
Glass water pitchers also make very good gifts. When one is unsure about what to gift a less known acquaintance, instead of gifting clocks or wall pictures, one could buy them a beautiful pitcher that would act as both a decoration item as well as a water holder. Such pitchers are common across countries and so are widely accepted culture-wise. There are no 'bad omens' associated with them in any mythology as well.
Apart from their normal use, they can also be used as flower vases or just showpieces around the house. As a matter of fact, cost-wise they are more affordable and as we have already seen, they are very pleasing to the eye. Hence, without a second thought, both traditional and contemporary minded people can go for these glass pitchers the next time they go gift-shopping!

What do you think about the nine year old pitcher being kicked out of his league for being too good?
I personally think it is outrageous. Just because he is a great player doesn't mean you should kick him out because some whiny kids, parents, and coaches complained. At the least move him to an advanced league, which I would not do but is better than kicking him out for good.
I debated this issue with a co-worker, and he and I both have Little League coaching experience. His position was basically that the kid was told not to play, and the parents of the kids from the opposite team chose to forfeit because the kid had a great fastball, and the speed of his throws put the batters in imminent danger.
My position was that the kids didn't want to play him because the town in Connecticut where he lives is majority white kids, and they couldn't stand to see this non-white kid excel. They also pointed out in the article I read that the team in the league that won last year's championship chose not to play because they could not recruit this kid to their team. To me that's another example of motivation by jealousy.
This kid's team was 8-0 at this point in the season. His team was perfect. He was perfect. What's not to be jealous of?? They are all haters.
