Unique Mantel Clocks Vs Inexpensive Large Wall Clocks
Does your room need a new focal point? Using unique mantel clocks can be a change of pace. There are many styles of mantel clocks and you are sure to be able to find one to fit your style.Fireplace mantel decorating is more than just what you put on your mantel. choose your own personal style. What you decide to put on your mantel can say a lot about who you are. A fireplace mantel can be a natural focal point because of its size and usually centrally-located position. The fireplace mantel is an important place to start when you want to change up the feel of your room. You can change out the decor on it for the season at hand. Where else would you hang your Christmas stockings or put your artificial pumpkin.
Where do you start when decorating the fireplace? What color is it? How big is it? What style is it? Does it have a boring look? Well if it does you can do something about it. If your fireplace mantel is a terrible color you can restore it with a coat of paint. The process is easy, fun, and can be completed in a few hours. The cost is only a fraction of the price of or remodeling your fireplace. Paint can work wonders.
Now that it is brightened up, step back and see how your mantel would look with a unique mantel clock on it. Would it compliment or compete with the fireplace? Would it draw the eye with an attractive, style and finish? If not, see what items would suit your taste better.
Since mantels are usually eye-level, they draw attention first. Here are three approaches to decorating the same mantel based on principals of balance.
1.Radial Symmetry Style: This style is based on elements radiating for a central point. Mount items on the wall and let them fan out around a stationary focal point on the mantel such as a picture or lovely flower arrangement.
2. Symmetrical Style: This even handed approach is popular for a good reason. It creates a restful impression of peace and harmony. To achieve this look center a picture or mirror on your mantel and then arrange like items around it such as candlestick holders a flower arrangement and let them slightly overlap the edge of your mirror or picture.
3. Asymmetrical Style: This style uses careful placement of dissimilar items to create a pleasing look to the eye. This is a dynamic effect. For an example you might take a large item such as a picture an place it to one side and then create balance by arranging a group of items to fill the opposite space.
Other ways to decorate your mantel include using family heirlooms, pictures or mirrors. Artwork is always striking above your fireplace, so include unique displays like a single, bold piece in a beautiful frame, or try clustering smaller paintings or prints in asymmetrical groups for contemporary, interesting impact. You can also group items of similar shape or color on your mantel for a whimsical look, again trying differently symmetrical configurations since an aspect of incongruity is pleasing to the eye.
Now move to the hearth, the next area of your fireplace decorating project. Balance is the name of the game when it comes to your hearth, so try a potted plant on either side of your fireplace opening. If your mantel displays candles, sculptures or vases in equal measure on each side, try shaking up the scene on your hearth with a stunning set of fireplace tools at one end, and a wood holder at the other. Those who prefer a sleek, bare look can try a simple, unique unique mantel clocks or a wreath hung over the mantel.
Fireplace mantel decorating is important to bring warmth to your living space. You can place a candle holders inside your empty fireplace to ad a touch of personality. Seasonal item such as flowers, pine cones or a picture work well.
Side Note: Fireplace mantel decorating is the quickest, easiest way to pull together a total look for any room. If you create a warm, beautiful and inviting environment, your fireplace will become a focal point around which your family will gather. If it so happens that you fireplace is without a mantel here are 3 tips on what you can ad for a great focal point.
1. Use a unique mantel clock or an inexpensive large wall clock above the fireplace.
2. Ad a large wall shelf above the fireplace to ad all your goodies to.
3. Hang that big screen television above your fireplace and frame it with molding to give it that built-in look

Centrepieces for a winter wedding!?
I am having a winter wedding and I want something really, really simple for my centrepieces. I was thinking a bunch of pine cones maybe with that fake snow in a tall cylinder vase. Does anyone have pictures to something similar? Or any other easy simple ideas?
My colors are baby blue and ivory. And I am trying to stay away from red & green Christmas stuff. We're geared more towards snowflakes and stuff like that ![]()
And we are not allowed candles.
Too bad about the candles. With a snow theme, they would look lovely. What about those lights that look like flickering candles? I know they come in ivory. If you put those on top of small round mirrors or glass coasters or surrounded them with glass beads in ice blue, I think it would look lovely and snowy.
