How to Make a Chalkboard Paint Surface
If you have three very busy sons like mine then you need to tap their creativity with a chalkboard. You can do this by using a chalkboard paint. It is Applied to metal, wood, masonry, drywall, plaster, glass, concrete, steel plated board with a coat of porcelain or on a hardboard. It Erases cleanly with soap and water, though its for indoor use only. Today white boards, also referred to as dry erase boards have replaced chalkboards, though its preference has not gone away.
Chalkboard paint is a dark, easily cleaned paint that is water based that will adhere to many surfaces, that is it is a versatile substance that will help you create a chalkboard surface anywhere! I had to paint my whole wall with this paint so that my son could scribble and keep numbers on the wall without him getting into trouble with the mother.
You can also use it in the classroom, in the office boardroom, and also in the home to create a central message center for all the family members, or in a restaurant to issue the daily changes on the menu. It's also great in kids' rooms as an outlet for all of their artistic energy.
These paints are available at any hardware store or any paint shop. Once you are set with the painting process, determine where the chalkboard will be set up. Sand the surface to a fine finish. Mark the borders of the area to be painted. Clean this area with clean, warm soapy water and let it dry. Apply the paint using a good brush. After a few minutes, apply the second coat, and then a third coat. Let it dry for at least 24 hours. You will have a smooth smooth and lasting chalkboard at your disposal.

Who is Robert Mayakuk, believe to be Inuit artist. Has painted on porcelain plates.?
I have a beautiful collector's plate with Inuit (Eskimo) scene in black on white porcelain. It is signed in the artist's handwriting which I determine to be Robert Mayakuk. The last name could be somewhat different, but the two "ks" (kuk) are identical, and I think they are correct. If anyone knows about this artist, I would greatly appreciate hearing anything about him and his work.
I found information about a well-known Alaskan artist named Robert Mayokok, sometimes spelled Mayokuk. Here is the bio provided:
"Robert Mayokok was born in 1903 in Wales, Alaska. Although he attended school only to the sixth grade, he learned to speak English quite well by studying Sears and Roebuck catalogs. From his early school years, he also recalled a painting by Rembrandt in the classroom. Although he had no idea of the artist's identity, the image inspired him to begin drawing."
