Yorkshire Businessman Joins European Painting Assembly
A Yorkshire businessman led representatives from across Europe for the general assembly of UNIEP, the European trade group for the painting industry, which took place in London.
The conference was the first time members have met in the Capital since 1972 and focused on the environment, training and the welfare of small to medium businesses.
It took place at the International Coffee Organisation in the Capital – which offers the necessary facilities for international events, including comprehensive conference and translation facilities.
As Acting President of UNIEP, Stephen Bagnall, who is Group Managing Director of Bagnalls, was at the helm for the event.
He was one of three members of the Painting and Decorating Assocation (PDA) representing the UK at the event. The PDA – one of the UK’s largest trade bodies – is an affiliated member of UNIEP.
Mr Bagnall, whose company’s headquarters are based in Shipley, said: “It was interesting to understand how issues such as the introduction of more environmentally-friendly paints and pan-European training initiatives are being introduced in the industry both here and on the Continent.”
UNIEP was established in 1953 and serves as a lobbying group influencing European legislation that impacts on the painting and decorating sector.
David Powis, chief executive of the PDA, said: “This was an important meeting that covered some fundamental strategic challenges for the country’s painting and decorating industry as a whole.”
Bagnalls has fourteen branch offices throughout the UK including Glasgow, Leeds, Birmingham, Cardiff and London, together with its headquarters in Shipley. Within Yorkshire it also has offices in Shipley, Doncaster and York.

Where to find decorative stars to hang on your house?
A friend of mine wants to get her mother one of those big decorative stars that you hang outside, usually on your house. I see them all over the place but cannot find where she can buy one. I heard of a few places that have them but they're painted with Christmas decoration on them and she just wants a plain one...brown, silver, whatever. Does anyone know of a retail store that sells them? I live in western Pennsylvania if that helps.
amishcountrycreations.com they have alot of pretty ones, makes me want to get one too! good prices also
