Can I have a male and a female beta together in the same bowl?

I know I have a male because he made a "bubble nest", I know that beta fish are aggressive among them, but i don´t know if the male and the female are going to fight and kill each other, or mate if I have them together in the same bowl. Thanks for you´r advice.

Is it a Betta Splendens? If so it's no problem to keep male and females in one tank. But there have to be many plants (when they can't see each other there is no trouble) and there should be more than one female. Otherwise it could really be too much stress for just one.

At the moment I have 4 female and a male Betta in mine. Sometimes he is after them, but thanks to the plants there are many places to hide. And when they get bigger I often saw it even the other way round with Bettas I had before - the male fled before the female. They get really fierce, when they are older. But I never saw a male really fighting a female one.

Betta Splendens are not as aggressive as the archetype Bettas. By chance I once even had 2 males in one tank (the fins of one were so short, he was sold as a female, maybe another Betta species).
They just had had some little fights and in the end every one had its own territory (tank size = 200l).

edit: I totally overread the bowl. How big is your bowl? It's just cruel to keep fish in tanks <60l (~16 gallons) - no matter what species.
