A Logo is a Snapshot of you on your Promotional Mugs

This title may seem a bit philosophical but it actually is pretty fundamental. The word logo is short for the word logotype which means a sign, name, or trademark. Institutions and firms of all types want to have a logo that represents them and when seen stands for them immediately.

What a company is trying to do when they develop a logo is to come up with a graphic that they hope will be automatically attached to their business when someone sees it. An example of a logo is the golden arches of McDonald's. You do not have to see the MacDonald's sign to know who the golden arches belongs to.

If you're marketing goal, or your future business goal, is to promote a logo to the point that people automatically relate it to your business, then promotional mugs are a great way to start this process. Is it illegal to post fake lost "item" signs in public?

My friend and i thought it would funny if we put up signs that say stuff like "lost key chain" & lost "personalized mug" signs and put our friends number on the sign. Is that illegal? We live in Pennsylvania.

Apart from "fraud" and "harassment", posting false notices amounts to the crimes of "imposing" and "causing a public nuisance". Were someone to be killed or injured while acting in response to such notices, you could be charged with contributing to their misfortune.
