Why do I have Exploding Glassware?

I have some Princess House Irish Coffee Mugs and in the passed few months I have had 2 of them explode. I had one setting on the kitchen counter and when I got home all there was was a pile of glass, a handle, & a bottom. I happened again last night in the glass cabinet. Again, glass mostly in a small pile with a handle and the bottom stem. Can anyone tell me what is going on? There has been no extreme temperature change, no loud noises, and no one around.

I would guess that the articles were not properly annealed, and there were inbuilt stresses in the glass which could only be relieved by the thing breaking apart.

In other words, a manufacturing flaw. How long have you had them? I would have collected the pieces, and returned them to the shop, or better, to the manufacturer, and asked for replacements. If you have others purchased at the same time, I would have returned those also, in case they all had the same problem.
