Glaze Art Pottery

Pottery question? 10 pts?
When I glazed my pottery in my art class, the teacher said not to glaze the bottom part of my bowl. Does anyone know why we can't glaze the bottom? Does it get stuck or what?
It does get stuck. If you do get any glaze on the bottom, you should try to wipe it off with a wet sponge or your project will become permanently glued to the kiln.
