French Majolica Oyster
Having opened on July 2nd, 2009, Baxter's at 101 Bridge Street compliments the conglomeration of Phoenixville restaurants by offering a diverse and charming saloon and eatery in a historic setting. The town of Phoenixville, which has transformed over the past few years from the quiet home of the forgotten steel mill to the new Chester County hot spot, welcomes the restaurant with open arms. The town offers First Fridays and live Friday night entertainment on the streets to promote business for the shops and restaurants on and around Bridge Street.
Owners Ron Morrison and Vihn Dihn who created Baxter's and currently also own Baxter's of Great Valley, decided to replace the upscale, fine dining establishment 101 Bridge with a more traditional, eclectic American Pub. While the restaurant maintains the ambiance, service and charm that 101 developed in the historic office building of the Phoenixville Steel Corporation, it now also offers affordable, traditional cuisine including burgers, salads, mussels and several steak and seafood selections.
Chef Chris Bechtle, formerly of Bobby's Seafood and Ludwig's Oyster Bar and Grill, brings an original flare to the Baxter's. Some of his creations include a delicious, creamy crab bisque, a delightfully fresh Avocado and Crab Meat Salad, succulent Peppered Salmon and sumptuous Bananas Foster Bread Pudding.
The menu offers juicy burgers on toasted rolls along with tender fillet Mignon, fresh salads and delightful pasta dishes that satisfy a wide range of appetites. The restaurant also offers weekly specials such as Strip Steak Night and Seafood Night as well as happy hour and Phillies game time specials.
Families will be relieved to hear that children are welcome and will be able to order from the kids menu while their parents relax on elegant tables that feature candle light and fresh flowers. Baxter's at 101 Bridge plans to open for lunch next week.
The restaurant offers outdoor dining so that the patrons can enjoy live entertainment and a beautiful view of the town. Baxter's at 101 Bridge plans to be competitive with the other Phoenixville restaurants such as Iron Hill Brewery, The Black Lab Bistro, Steel City Coffee House, Majolica and Marley's. With an affordable menu and good, fresh food, the restaurant has a chance of doing just that.
