French Country Porcelain

english help?
Can anyone explain to me what does it mean in the following sentence when it is describing a house as a canvas?
The new house was a great big blank French Country canvas, and with her ware house space full of collected antiques, draperies and linens, rugs and fixtures, mirrors, prints and porcelains
this is my guess.
it's a blank canvas meaning you can do w/ it what you want. As in decorating it and constructing it.
do with it, what you want
