Florals Have Made A Comeback

Floral patterns and fabric have been in and out of fashion like a frisbee over the last 100 years. They are typically associated with being girly or old fashioned which is why when fashion in overall became more manly or scruffy that floral fabrics went out of favour. The last time that heavily patterned floral fabrics were de rigueur was in the 1980’s helped drastically by the revolutionary efforts of Laura Ashley. Thanks to a revival in home cooking and a healthy awareness in keeping house all things kitsch and retro are making a comeback, this of course includes the modest floral patterns. Flowers are appearing on everything from tea towels through to bed linen creating a characteristically English look.

Britain seems all in kindness of the floral revolution mostly in the bedroom, who wouldn’t like to snooze in a bed of flowers? Bedding with floral patterns on does not have to be quaint it can be funky and modern and that is where the new floral designs differ greatly from their predecessors. Companies like Cath Kidston have made floral designs fashionable and they are selling by the millions allowing more established classic bedding companies like Sanderson to come to the fore front of design and people’s tastes once more.

These more traditional companies have created a range of designs that includes floral patterns and designs which would contentedly fit into a classically styled bedroom. Motifs including large flowers with varieties such as peonies and roses bring an elegance look to a room and create a romantic ambience. Houses that are decorated in a modern way have a clean fresh look but they can be a little cold in their feel so a touch of colour from some modern floral bed linen can really inject some warmth into the room.

Spring is the perfect time to embrace the floral revolution so you are surrounded by flowers inside and out whether your abode is modern or conventional in its décor there is the ideal floral pattern to enhance your living space.
