Ceramic Pottery Bowl

Anyone know of a good ceramics artist?
i have to write about one for a class i'm taking. They have to make more than just like bowls or mugs and other functional pottery. They have to be like sculptors or something.
Thanks
I've done reports on Shoji Hamada and Jack Earl. Although, Bernard Leech is the father of ceramics as we know today, Shoji Hamada gives the Japanese spin on being a country potter. There's TONS of info out there on Hamada and Leech. Jack Earl is still living. He did a lecture at Dallas community College a few years ago. Funny guy. He was just in American Craft Magazine in Feb. Some of his titles are real long, so it makes your paper look longer! Oh, his ceramics is scuptured porcelain.
Good Luck!
