Tattoo regret- opinions of those older and wiser?

So next week I plan to get my first tattoo, and I'm totally Prepared for everything but the regret. Im seriously concerned about that. Ok, that doesn't sound very confident ... What I'm saying is, right now at 18 I think it's an awesome idea that I'll be proud of for the rest of my life. But I know that I'm still young with a teenage brain that sometimes doesn't make the best decisions ... So I'd really appreciate the opinion of someone a little older, with or without comparable experience

So I'm planning on getting a petroglyph (cave art) woman in a joyous dancing pose on the back of my shoulder. I could go into all the sentimental significance and whatever, but no one really cares about that, right? So what do you think- decades from now, will I be kicking myself for being a moron when I was a kid? Or do you think it's something I'll be proud to wear?

I know this is a weird and hazy question, but I'd REALLY appreciate some opinions. Thanks!!!!

Ok I have MANY tattoos and all my tattoos have to do with things in my life even the color I choce in my tattoos have a reason why it is that color. If you have any doubts don't do it. If it something about you in a deep way you can say then go with it. If you have thought about it because it symbolizes something about you then it will forever because it is you. If you where saying you are going to go to a Tat shop pick a design on a wall to get you're first tattoo then I'd say don't do it because you will regret it and pay twice for a tattoo because you would end up gettin it covered.

So if it has deep meaning and what then yes go with it you will love it forever because there is a meaning and possibly a story behind it right? go get it and love it for what it is and represents. Hope this helps.
