How do you get an Arts and Craft finish on Red Oak without fuming?
I have been hitting it with cherry stain, then ebony stain and it gets that chocolate color. Then I would follow up with blond shellac or water based polyurethane. I am thinking of trying a mixture of Boiled Linseed and Tung oil after the stain to make the ray flakes pop a little more. Will this work on top of the stain? What about gel stain, do these types of stain have anything to offer?
