Purey aesthetic question about tans?

If a tan is desirable, wouldn't a fully brown color be the most desirable color, because it is like a tan, except amplified? I'm just asking. What is the most desired color in America and why?

Tanning preferences vary from person to person. One reason tans are popular is because they look "healthier" than paler skin. Some people do prefer brown skin, others prefer theirs or their partner's skin to be slightly darker or lighter. There are even those who prefer the extremes, extremely light or extremely dark. Everyone has their own personal preference.
Although I will note that personal preferences tend to fall along one of two main lines. People usually prefer either skin tones similar to their own, or they prefer 'exotic' skin tones (exotic being a relative term, relative to the individuals own cultural norm).
